Welcome!

Hello!

To know more about this blog check out the ‘About’ page. I’ll only say that this blog was made for sharing Ella (me) and Amy (BFF) scanlations, we are not really a group obviously, only two good friends who decided to put their talents to good use (translating+editing). For now we’re going to focus on the manga Oboreru Knife by George Asakura which is one of our favorites, we might start working on other things later on.

Also, we’re only newbies in this all thing so I apologize for any mistakes you might find! (Hopefully not too many.)

We hope you’ll enjoy our first release ever – Chapter 25 of Oboreru Knife, you can find the link for it in the manga’s page.

IMPORTANT – if you want to use our releases for whatever please ask first.

  1. wow,I thought there would be more comments to this, since I was like dancing and screaming happily when i saw this release. Well, the ‘underratedness’ of Oboreru knife is part of its charm as well. Personally it’s my fav manga as well since a few years back, and I really hoped someone would pick it up for (a bit) faster releases (not that I’m not grateful for any groups’s hard work). To cut it short,THANK YOU GUYS a loootlotlot, you made my day, keep up the good work! 🙂

(if I could,I would offer you red lollipops :9)

  2. Huh? I tought this manga is being worked by Evil Flowers.. Did they dropped this? Or is it just you guys being selfish because you want to make some popularity by ‘steal’ their project?
Please dont try to be rude! I bet you dont even the rules in the scanlation world, huh? Evil Flowers are STILL WORKING ON THIS!

    • Lol, someone from evil flowers seems to be trolling here.
Evil flowers are slow as hell, and even have the audacity to say their site is going “down” all the time if no one donates a 100$, or whatever the hell it is now. Thank you to this scanlator! If you take over half a year for one chapter, expect the likelihood of someone picking it up.

      • Excuse me but please don’t be rude about us- it’s Lat here, the admin at EF. Of course our site is going to go down if nobody pays for it! It’s not FREE! Yes we do need to pay for the server because readers enjoy instant downloads and being able to read on the online reader. Also, this isn’t someone from EF trolling I don’t know who Anne is (thank you for sticking up for us though Anne, it’s much appreciated ^.^)- I happened to see this by chance. I don’t like competing with other groups, I think it’s a shame when people duplicate work because it wastes work on everyone’s behalf. Well, maybe Lera you could offer to help EF – maybe you would realise that it’s actually quite hard work, we DO NOT get paid for doing this and we do it for our readers. We release in HQ and translate everything (all the small text too which normally gets missed out), which takes time as we like to get it right- if you want quicker releases, help out. It’s really upsetting when we read read mean and uncalled for comments like this.

      • Really? Do you really feel that we have the “audacity” to ask for money in order to pay for our host? One of the admins has been paying it from his pocket money or it would have been down long time ago. The latest donations we recieved were spent for raws. If you feel that way then I’m sad to announce that you are one of the worst leechers out there. Expecting everything for free and even complaining over a normal request like that one, that, may I add, was not directed at you specifically. If you want to help/can help then please do. If you can’t/don’t want to you can do that as well. We didn’t block acces to anyone and donnors don’t get special treatment either. We didn’t ask for money to scan, we asked for money to be able to stay online. I don’t see what’s so wrong with that and it’s very sad and demoralizing to know there are people out there who think like you think.

      • @Evilflowers staff

I’m going to make a few points here.

        A) You claim not to have someone from EF ‘trolling’, yet you guys seem to be spamming another group’s posts right now, publicly, with two separate members, this has only furthered the impression that you guys are a little ‘upset’ someone has also taken up this project.

        B) There’s no work being ‘wasted’ when you haven’t done any on a project for over half a year

        C) I have done plenty of editing. It can take a while, but hard work? It is definitely not. It can be menial at times, yes, but unless a page is riddled with text EVERYWHERE, it shouldn’t take more than 4 minutes.

        D) Of coarse you don’t get paid, it’s all illegal. Is it appreciated? Yes (generally). Ultimately however, you are stealing an author’s work, posting it online for the world to see, and violating a whole lot of copyright laws in the said country (generally uploading author’s work without permission is a copyright violation in most modern countries). Not that I particularly care, since I read so much shit online, but here’s why complaining about not getting paid is kinda ridiculous.

        E) I poked at the donation pool because $100 a month for a server as it seemed very extreme to me, considering the free bandwidth you can get with mediafire, box, etc. span in the tens of gigabytes and are also fast services, and the operating cost of a small website without high rates of traffic (100k+ a day), is rarely about $15 a month.

        F) QUOTE: > “Since this one is still ongoing the fact that you will or will not finish it before you’re 80 it all depends on your current age and how long the mangaka is planing on working on this one before finishing it. Glass mask has been ongoing for 37 years now. Not saying this is the case here, but you do have to prepare yourself for this kind of situations when you start an ongoing title. If you can’t wait, read the completed ones. A friendly advice”

        Whaaat?

Essentially, you just said it doesn’t matter if it takes years, it’s our project, no one else should touch it. It’s taking a year? Can’t wait? Deal with it.

      • As long as you have never owned a scanlation site yourself that has the amount of releases we have I don’t think you can judge how expensive a host is or should be. Whatever, I will stop here. It’s clearly I’m not talking with someone who has actual knowledge in the matter. Anyway, as long as people will support us (donnors and staff) we’ll be active. When they’ll decide to stop we’ll close and that’s it. Life goes on.

    • “If you take over half a year for one chapter, expect the likelihood of someone picking it up.” This. For a manga that brings them so much “popularity” they don’t seem to have any priority over it. Flowers has other mangas which they’re obviously more focused on, and Oboreru definitely deserves more updates than it’s getting. Thank you so much Ella and Amy for your work.

      • We have a lot of popular projects… also we’ve asked for a translator to help out for ageeees~ but we have cleans waiting for a few chapters ^.^ but a new translator has now joined. We can’t make everyone happy!

    • We are definitely not trying to ‘steal’ anything, and the only one we could ‘steal’ from is the Author who owns the manga, and in this case the manga is not licensed.
The whole purpose of scanlation is fan-service, and we saw that it’s been a while since the last update so we decided to help out, so I definitely wouldn’t call us selfish either, we are giving away some of our free time for this, and we expect nothing back.
So I’m really sorry if it looked like we were being rude, since all we wanted is to help.

      • Hi ella 🙂 Sorry, my comment isn’t directed at you ^.^ It’s directed at people who leave nasty comments- I find this childish and immature. If you’d like to help us release this project faster, would you like to join us at EF? 🙂 Thank you for working hard- sorry we have been slow releasing this! ^.^ Maybe we can work together?

      • He lat 🙂 It’s okay I’m not blaming you for other people behavior.
The reason we didn’t join your group or any other group is that we prefer working at our own time and control the all process, and not being committed to any group, so we would like to keep working on our own for now.
And about the slow releasing – it’s okay, I know you have lots of projects so you focus on what you can ^_^

    • I can’t believe this comment! it’s been over half a year since the manga was last updated by Evil Flowers and there is no telling when the next chpater is out– so just because they started working on the manga first, now they “own” it and all fans just have to shut up and wait for their updates? are you nuts? I am super grateful to both groups for working on this amazing manga, but you know, I kinda want to finish the manga before I turn 80 so… whichever group is faster. No one owns it and no one is being selfish by working on it.

The rude one is you, anne. Jumping to conclusions, assuming that the girls picked this manga to gain popularity for their group– when it’s their only project and first one. yeah, totally seems like they want their small friendly group to take over the scanlating world / sarcasm

      • It’s not about owning a title, but you do have to admit that there are a lot of other great titles out there that don’t have an active scanlator working on them. Why not pick one of those? And the only reason we’ve been particulary slow with this one is because we concentrated on others first and we needed a translator for it. Since this one is still ongoing the fact that you will or will not finish it before you’re 80 it all depends on your current age and how long the mangaka is planing on working on this one before finishing it. Glass mask has been ongoing for 37 years now. Not saying this is the case here, but you do have to prepare yourself for this kind of situations when you start an ongoing title. If you can’t wait, read the completed ones. A friendly advice 🙂 .

      • Because I see unable to reply to the comments by Evilflowers staff…

“It’s not about owning a title, but you do have to admit that there are a lot of other great titles out there that don’t have an active scanlator working on them. Why not pick one of those? ”

BECAUSE THIS WAS ONE OF THEM.

        Half a year is inactive!

  3. OMG thank you so much for picking this manga!! It’s one of my favorite shoujo. I really wished someone would keep translating it. I was just about to order the volumes from cdjapan in hope there is furigana and I would be able to understand something with my crappy Japanese… But then I noticed the manga was updated, yay! (Not saying I am no longer interested in buying the manga, I want to support this amazing author!)

    Thank you once more <@

  4. Thank you very-very much!!! this manga is awesome! I’m glad and grateful that you picked it up. Please continue on doing that great job ❤

  5. I for one, am happy you picked up this project. It’s been forever since Oboreru Knife has been worked on and it’s my favorite manga!! 😦 I read up to volume 14 in raws and it’s killing me not knowing what’s going on! So thank you thank you thank you 🙂

  6. Ohh nice job for a first time!
😀 Translating manga is a great way to get better in japanese.
Thank you for sharing your work.

  7. myrakuen, for some reason I can’t see the reply button under your reply to my comment (your comment from July 17, 2013 at 3:08 pm), thus I’m replying here.

I personally don’t consider a manga that wasn’t updated for 8 months “an active project” (and I suspect there are many people like this). Maybe you’re working on this, but maybe the manga is just there, in your folders, but you’re hardly working on it– I don’t know. So no, I am not going to admit that this group should have picked another manga instead– if they love and want to work on Oboreru Knife. Like I said, I am super grateful to the girls and I am not the only one. In my opinion, maybe you’ve claimed too many titles– if you only can update so rarely.

When it comes it anime subs, there often is more than one group subbing the same title. No one complains and people can choose their preferred group. I don’t see a reason why it shouldn’t be similiar with manga.

I am 25 and that age comment was a joke, but I actually planned to put more work into my Japanese studies– one of the reasons so I can read Oboreru Knife 😉 But thanks to the girls, I no longer have to. Thank you for your friendly advice about only picking complated manga but I will pass– when it comes to the mangaka being slow, rather than the scanlating group being slow, there is nothing that can be done, I can deal with it (I love Nana and never regretted reading it, even though it’s been years since Yazawa Ai updated the series). When it comes to scanlating group being slow, there are two things that actually can be done a) someone who has the time starts working on the manga, b) I learn Japanese and translate it for myself.

  8. oh my goodness, I find this entire argument completely pointless and childish! please agata and Lera chill out! I’ve already made it very clear we aren’t competing here! I’ve also said that I agree that we have spent ages on this project and I don’t blame another group taking it up… so you’re arguing with yourselves. I’m also 25 and doing Japanese studies- wish me luck ^.^
Though I will say running a site is very expensive- 4 minutes per page? Sorry Lera, but it must be LQ with lots of dust… or you’re using shortcuts which make it MQ at best.. sorry, but that’s the truth of it. And no $100 is not just for running a site- it’s to pay for the website, hosting the online reader, buying raws (we are a HQ group after all), paying for a huge server in Romania to HOLD all the releases, allowing free downloads INSTANTLY i.e. not waiting 5 mins for it to download, holding a mirror server to hold an alternative version of said links so that it’s faster for some countries who can’t download version one of the links.. and more reasons I can’t think of right now but are costly… yeah it’s pretty expensive. And our admins have frequently paid out of their own pocket to keep the site up.
Also, if we DIDNT have this (like we didnt used to) we used to get hate mail – about 200 emails a day, having a go at us about not having quick downloads.. so I guess we can do nothing right. Well I suppose we could just close the group down and stop a lot of projects and disappoint a whole load of readers… but no we keep going and dealing with hate mail – and to be honest, we don’t force people to pay we just ask – nothing wrong in that. I gather you have either 1) no concept of money or 2) never owned a scanlation group or any other group which requires this much constant upkeep. Also, it’s actually a grey area around legality- as long as the project isn’t licensed or shared to the countries it’s licensed in, there is nothing technically ‘illegal’ about it… just FYI for you.
so yeah, I do disagree that half a year is ‘inactive’ but I do agree that it is ‘rubbish and slow’ – we’ve been busy and have lives! Did you read something I said which said we were calling OK active? NO. because I didn’t say that. so again you’re arguing with yourselves.
Also, as I mentioned, it’s fine this group has picked OK up too, we won’t drop it because of it. I’ve been very civil to the owner of this site- even offered a joint to make it faster… they said no and that’s fine ^^ Let’s all calm down please, and re-read your comments and see that you’re feeding of ‘anne’s’ comments and not EF staff, so please stop attacking us until you know the facts and can hold a useful argument.
Anyway, I’ve said my bit- if you don’t like us asking for donations, just get over it and don’t visit our website. We aren’t asking you to come! and to be honest, your comments are really uncalled for and mean and I don’t think I’d want you spewing nastiness at our staff and readers. I won’t be coming to this blog again – hope you both chill out and realise we aren’t trying to compete, nor do we care – and maybe grab a drink and RELAX! surely you can do something better with your time…

    • Um… sorry, but I can’t help it— HAHAHAHAAAHA

My first comment was a reply to anne’s comment– it had nothing to do with your group, I wasn’t “arguing” with you. Then a member of *your group* (I assume), myrauken, started “arguing” with me. (I am using the word “argue” since you obviously take any form of opinion exchange as “arguing”)

“Did you read something I said which said we were calling OK active? NO. because I didn’t say that. so again you’re arguing with yourselves.”

wtf, lattallat, I never replied to any of your comments, just myrakuen’s (when she spoke to me first), and yes– basically this is what she said

“[…]you do have to admit that there are a lot of other great titles out there that don’t have an active scanlator working on them. Why not pick one of those?”

I am not arguing with myself– or with anyone, for that matter (because for me “arguing” means something totally different than for you… not just “a person having a different opinion than my own”)

“hope you both chill out and realise we aren’t trying to compete, nor do we care – and maybe grab a drink and RELAX! surely you can do something better with your time…”

Right back at you 😉 It’s very clear you’re the offended, irritated one here. Sorry, but I am not. You’re making a fool of yourself by trying to make Lera and me seem like the bad guys / people with no life / oversensitive / whatever. There is no reason for Lera or me to have strong feelings on the matter– unlike you. I am very grateful to your group for working on Oboreru Knife, and if there will be two versions of translations I will happily read both and compare them, but I don’t really appreciate some woman on the internet, who doesn’t know me at all, telling me to chill out, grab something to drink etc. This is such a huge wtf for me– because here I am, totally calm, smiling and petting my Persian with the free hand XD XD

      • “You’re making a fool of yourself by trying to make Lera and me seem like the bad guys / people with no life / oversensitive / whatever.”
Not my fight to fight but, lol. How ridiculous this sounds when you have put your tags on your name yourself. No one called you that. And yeah, people around here should chill up.

      • And who isn’t? Did Lera say she isn’t? I don’t think so.

        Also,
“How ridiculous this sounds when you have put your tags on your name yourself. No one called you that.”

No, latallat didn’t use exactly these words, but she clearly implied such things.

oversensitive–> “oh my goodness, I find this entire argument completely pointless and childish! please agata and Lera chill out! […] and maybe grab a drink and RELAX!”

no life–> “surely you can do something better with your time…”

bad guy–> “so please stop attacking us until you know the facts and can hold a useful argument […] your comments are really uncalled for and mean and I don’t think I’d want you spewing nastiness at our staff and readers”

Maybe my comment seems ridiculous to you, but this is just your opinion and I shall disagree 😉
